Which jet boil model are you guys using for back country water boiling for mountain house meals?

How many meals will one bottle of fuel last?

Thanks
Brady

SOL ti here.

Light, fast, efficient.

I don't know how many boils I get, maybe 30? 40?

I like the TI because the cup cools down instantly.

I use a MSR pocket rocket, not sure how many boils I get either but it is plenty for a week for one person. That includes water food dinner and a couple hot drinks.

FYI...I dont use pre made foods, I make my own and place them in freezer zip loc bags quart size. I heat the water right up to a boil, then place the water in the bag of food, then wrap it in a wool scraf or shirt and let it cook for 15 minutes while I am getting everything else ready. This allows you to design your own food, plus I have not found a pre-packaged meal I like.

I have the Flash, which is all they had when I bought mine. Boils water in no time, excellent on fuel, I wouldn't trade it for anything except one of the newer ones. I backpack a lot in the summer, just me and my girlfriend and we can get about 4 days worth of breakfast, dinner, and coffee out of one little can. I carry a extra just in case we stay longer.

After reading this I finally broke down and put my old stove on the shelf and bought a Jetboil SOL Ti. Between it and the fuel weight savings it knocked two lbs off the pack weight. It was worth it for that weight lose alone.

I have the flash. Have not taken it in the field yet this year but have cooked about 10 practice meals so far and love it. I wanted to play with the mountain house meal times and instant potato meals.

I have the Zip and have no complaints. As for the canister Im still on my first one so Im not sure how many boils it would do.

I have a snow peak giga-Power setup. It may be a little smaller and lighter than the SOL-TI, but I think it is significantly less efficient. I think the heat shroud built onto these Jetboils is a big deal. I may have to look really hard at making a change next year.

I have the Flash (like Wyohunter it's all they made when I got it). When I upgrade stoves it'll be to the Ti Sol. I'm not sure on boils either, but everyone I know who uses a JetBoil just takes one canister for 5-8 days.

That was going to be my next question. Are you guys bringing one 100g canister or one 230g canister?

I've had the SOL Titanium for a couple seasons now. It's been a good stove at all sort of elevations and temps for me. The only thing I don't care for about the stove is the lid comes off pretty easy if your not careful packing it or lashing it down with a rubber band or something similar. I kind of wish the lid design would lash down a bit better for packing. Other than that it's an awesome stove.

1 small cannister of fuel is good enough for a 8 - 10 day hunt above 11,500 ft. This use is based on morning and evening cooking with 14 ounces of water. Still had some fuel left on a couple occasions.

Used my Titanium this year and I averaged one 100g canister per week of use. That was with two uses a day. Great stove. All my time was between 8500-10500 ft.

Has anyone else had a problem with the little push button igniter on the jetboils? Mine has never worked and I always use a lighter.
