My group will be hunting antelope on a ranch on October 8 & 9. We will be hunting mule deer for 5 days either before or after in region C. If the seasons are the same as last year, it will be 10/1-10-15. New moon is September 30, full is October 16. Based on number of hunters for the opener (oct 1 falls on a Saturday) vs fewer hunters but pressured animals the second week, and the moon, when you you guys hunt deer? 10/3-7, or 10/10-14?

If other people are hunting the place your best bet would be to get there prior to the season, find your deer, and shoot opening day. If that's not possible, wait until the last week.

The mule deer will be on public land. Because of scheduling, we won't be able to hunt until the afternoon of the second day.

You might be over thinking it a little. Show up when it works best, hike high with good glass, and start looking, you'll find them if you look hard enough, no matter what the moon is doing.

Me, over think something? Yeah that sounds about right.
