Guys,
I'm looking at doing my first Colorado mule deer hunt this fall or next. When do mule deer typically shed there velvet?
I've seen some shed as early as September 1st and some not until the end of September. However, most really begin to shed their velvet around the second week of September.

I was in CO Sept 5-12 in 2013 and the only two deer we saw without velvet were the deer we ended up taking. Everything from forks to a 200"+ giant we found were all in Velvet still.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm good with a buck in velvet but my hunting buddy is hoping for hard horns......he might just have live with velvet.
