This year I'll be using a 7mm rem mag for elk and a 160 grain Nosler AccuBond bullet. Im using Reloader22 and IMR7828 short cut trying to find the right load. I have used AccuBonds on deer and antelope and they have worked great but never shot an elk with one. Anyone ever use 160 AccuBonds for elk? What bullet are you using for elk in the rifle you use?

I have shot bulls with Remington CoreLokt, Speer Grand Slam, Partition, Accubond, Fail Safe, TSX, TTSX, and Berger VLD Hunting.

They all worked as advertised for me. My favorite on-game performance came from the Barnes. I haven't got my 2012 picks quite narrowed down yet, though.

Have shot 2 elk with my 7mm WSM using 160 grain Accubonds, both one shot kills. One was a 310 yards, dropped in its tracks.

I use the same as you. Killed a 350" bull at 425 yards with pass through. Also alot of 300lb mule deer all with awesome performance.

I've also had good luck with the Accubonds. I took a 6x6 bull two years ago with a 200 gr. Accubond in my 300 ICL. Good performance. Years ago, I used 65 grs. of old H4831 in my 160 gr 7 mag loads with good luck.

Sounds like the 160 AccuBond will work. Thanks. I was thinking of trying Barnes but the AccuBond has worked so good on deer and goats I thought a 160 will probably do good on elk. I see on different forums alot of people are using them.

I mainly use my tikka t3 .300 win mag when elk hunting and it prefers nosler partitions. I tried to use barnes tsx but I just couldn't get them to group as well as the partitions.
