This will be my first time hunting the Rubies during archery season. I plan to hunt the high basins. The central part of the range looks to be pretty popular. Would that be the area to avoid. I know Nevada issues a lot of tags so I would like to avoid others as much as possible, if that is possible.

If you like the juniper country, you can head south in 103 and 108. Area 10 runs all the way to highway 50 west of Ely. Or you can try the Humboldt range northeast of the Rubies. There are a couple smaller mountain ranges that prob don't get much traffic in the zone as well. Last year I saw deer up high, down low and in between. The bigger bucks were definitely up higher though (that I saw). That said, I talked with a few locals that said there are always a few good bucks that bed close to the fields down low. Tough hunt for sure, but fun! Good luck!

We have had several close calls with bucks down in the lower hills that are thick pinion and jumiper the last few years during
archery. Everyone just drives past the area heading to the Ruby's. We found a couple of water holes that had tracks on them and
made somemakeshift blinds. Just haven't gotten lucky yet.
The best thing is that it seems no one else hunts the area during archery season.
