Well, I went to the store today after doing a little scouting for the muzzle loader season and was quite surprised at the number of trucks and trucks with trailers that had home freezers strapped to them. There were at least 4 trailers and a couple of trucks with them in the bed ready for their owners to fill them with deer or elk.
I ran into a couple of bow hunters inside of the store, they were unmistakable hunters since they were decked out head to toe in camo and buying donuts. I talked to them for a while, they were from Indiana and this was their first hunt out here in Colorado and they had spend the last week in the hills and had to come down for some provisions. One of the trucks in the parking lot with the freezer was theirs and I asked them how it worked out for them. Right now they were using it to freeze ice to place in the coolers but they said that they were set up for butchering and freezing whatever they got before they headed home. They also said that a friend had told them that this was a good way to do it to preserve the meat. Smart guys.
Now to my scouting trip this morning, my bucks that I have been watching have disappeared since the bow hunt started a week and a half ago. I plan on going out again tomorrow morning to see if I can find them. My fear is that they have turned into city bucks since they have been living less than a mile from town along the golf course. Hopefully I can find them again and see if I can put that 250 grain Thor bullet into one of their boiler rooms.
