Weather around Snowmass village?

Anybody know what the weather has been like in the high country around Snowmass Village, [capital peak] area? Lots of rain? Cooler than normal, how are the service roads, would it be a dumb idea to bring a 2 wheel drive truck from Michigan the 3rd week of September?

I don't know that area at all but im willing to say you will want a 4 wheel drive.

A lot of rain this year and as some of the guys are pointing out it's starting to snow! I would not suggest brining a 2 wheel drive.

Definitely wouldn't try it with 2 wheel drive. Most of the roads around that area get very nasty when wet. The mud is like grease and will make for difficult travel.

Not sounding good, I guess we will have to take the old gas hog . at least that beats not going.

By September it could be 80 one day and snowing the next. Better safe than sorry

One of the roads I use over in that general area is signed "Impassible When Wet"...after coming out on it one time in the rain, in a 4x4, with chains on the rear, I'll never try that again ( and this was in archery season).

Lots of rain so far this year and it's still raining. Could be snow might come by that time of year. Happens quite often. Throw in some chains too, the roads can get really nasty when their wet. But so far...rain, rain and more rain.
