Here's a picture of my dad's buck from 2016 late whitetail hunt. I was lucky enough to be a part of this hunt and what a experience it was. My dad missed this buck on the first day at 80 yards. We were both really bummed but kept hunting hard over the next 4 days seeing a few nice bucks but nothing close to this buck. On the 5th day after talking my dad out of shooting a nice 3 point that morning, I spotted this buck bending down in irrigation ditch about 3/4 miles away with a hot doe. We quickly made a plan and the stock was on. Not an easy task for my dad, being disabled with one leg. After about a half and hour we were 350 yards from the buck at a fence line but with the tall grass and being forced to shoot standing up we deliberated if we needed to get closer and try and get a better rest. So we belly crawled under the fence and worked our way up to 237 yards with last bit of cover we had was a little bush. We still had to make a standing shot so I wedged the front of the gun in between the bush stock by crossing them and put the shooting stick on the butt of the gun, it made a pretty good rest for dad. The buck was still bedded and all we could see was his head and antlers and I wanted to wait until the buck stood for a good shot opportunity. It felt like forever, but after about an hour the buck stood up and dad made a great shot. The buck ran 50 yards before it piled up, we were so pump. We were in disbelief that we got him.
