Vasque Boots

Anyone currently use or have tried Vasque boots for hunting?

After researching numerous hunting boots, I'm considering going with a reputable hiking/backpacking boot.

Looking for a 200g insulated boot for early season mountain type hunts for elk etc... like in Colorado.

There's an REI in my town where I can try them on before ordering. Tired of ordering boots and then having to return them for poor fit.

I know lots of folks like Meindl, Kenetrek, etc... I'm just not willing to drop that kind of money.

I have gone threw three pairs i use then for every day use i have a pair on now i don't use them for backpacking there to low for my liking the main thing i did not like was the soles cracked and came apart but im a little tuff on my shoes

Thanks. That's what many reviews said as well. Lots of issues with the soles wearing out sooner than they should. Tough spending that kind of money if the soles aren't going to hold up. Retail, they're comparable to some of the other high end boots. They just added them to Promotive so caught my eye.

The only thing I can say is that I bought a pair of Italian made Vasque boots (11" Sundowners with 1000g? thinsulate and goretex) about 15 years ago at Sierra Trading Post in Cheyenne. They are a bit warm for early season hunting, but honestly, these are the best pair of boots I have every owned (at that time the MSRP was $300, but I got then at STP for $100). After all those years of hunting (including sheep and goat hunts) they are still holding together but are starting to wear out, so I started watching eBay for a backup pair. I ended up getting a second pair for a good price, but to my surprise they are now made in China and that second pair (even though it is the same size as my original pair) does not have near the same quality or fit as my original pair. With that said, if you can find the Italian made Vasque boots then jump on it, but if they are made in China then buyer beware.

I have two pairs and they are great for everyday use. I don't know If I would trust them on a mountain hunt. Both pair have had the soles repaired. The soles tend to Crack right where the toe bends.

I used a pair of Vasque Wasatch boots last year and I didn't have any issues with them. I will say on the 2nd day I felt a blister beginning on my left heel. Like others have said they do have a lower cut than some others. I haven't had any issues with the soles or any workmanship of the boots. I attributed the blister on the heel to not having the boots tight enough plus side stepping the hills even though this shouldn't have caused it. (liner and normal socks worn)
This year I'm looking for something else which will come up a little bit higher on the ankle. FYI since you have an REI close to you find out when their 'garage sale' is and try and get in on that for some decent deals.

I use them regularly on wilderness bowhunts.......very comfortable and lightweight (backpacking).

Yep. Next Garage Sale is 26 April, this Saturday. However, last one I went to, they didn't have any footwear mostly camping gear.

Thx again for all the feedback/input. This combined with the reviews I've read, I've decided that if I get any Vasque boots, it will be for normal daily life use. However, will have to be after my current pairs of Merrell wear out.

In the mean time, just ordered a previous model Irish Setter boot (Ridge Hawk) in a 400g. For the majority, had good reviews, I have two friends that swear by them, and Sierratradingpost had one of their additional % sales during Easter weekend.
