The Utah DOW just upped the closure to state wide. They were worried that with 11 counties being closed that it would put more pressure on the other open ones, so they just closed it.

It is interesting in that Utah requires a shed antler gathering certificate that you can get by just taking it on line off of their web site.

It doesn't mean a thing except that you can answer some general questions and if you get one wrong you can go back and correct the wrong answer. But at least they are trying.

I'd like to see Colorado do the same thing. I have watched the shed hunters in my area during the spring time and at times it can get scary.

One thing that they don't address is the people that are out on their snowmobiles, ATV, cross country ski's, or just letting their dog run around in the wilds.

I agree with you Jim. Would like to see a small $10 license to collect. Also you would need to buy the Habit Stamp for non-res folks or residents without a valid hunt/fishing license. Use to be the areas we shed hunted in we would see few to no one in a year. Now there are folks all over to try and get a quick buck. Even know of one case that the guy has a few dogs trained to sniff out the sheds.
