Moose are on their way down in Utah for some reason. It is getting to the point that you are going to need 25+ points to draw a tag.

That is unless you try for one of the CWMU hunts then it is a who knows.

Also for those of you thinking of putting in for a Henry Mountain bison hunt they let out a extra 150 or so tags for 2018 and January 2019. They want to drop the herd number down to around 250 bison, so there might not be as many tags offered this year as in past years. Now the question is a big IF they harvest that many bison. It is my understanding that the hunts in December did not go as planned for a lot of hunters and the bison were very hard to find and a long way away from access roads. But there is still a January hunt to come so who knows about that one.

Yeah moose is a tough one. My Dad and I both have 22 points. He is about to the point of not hunting anymore due to his age so we are hopeful a CWMU permit materializes in the next few years.

I know the feeling. Being a non resident I have a bunch of bison points and need to cash them in before I hit my 80's.

I looked at the statistics tonight and I just might go for a cow tag out in the Book Cliffs in the next couple of years if I don't get lucky on the hunters choice down on the Henry's. I'd put in for the hunters choice out in the Books except I like the Henry's better.......but then I love the Book Cliffs but that hunters choice hunt is still quite a ways out there.

Good luck in your tag! Nothing wrong with taking a cow! Plenty of incredible meat and a quality experience to boot!
