Unusual Goose

In the 25 years I have lived in SW Colorado almost all of the geese I see are Canada's and a few Cacklers. I see a few specs and snows, but usually on a cold year when they migrate early thru here. Yesterday I saw a single Ross in with a bunch of Honkers. I know it was a Ross by it's small reddish colored bill. I have shot a few Ross years ago in California.

We've had the same type of thing happen on the river by work the last three years. One white front comes in with the Canada's and stays all winter.

I have up to 100 honkers on my pond and lawn every day. My pond has some open water because of the windmill aerator. I have not seen the Ross again after that day.
