I have a unit 67 2nd season deer tag. I am looking for any info that I can get. Such as good places to camp, places to avoid, area's to hunt, area's to stay away from. Any help/advice is much appreciated. I will be getting there a couple days early to scout. And I will stay until I kill a buck or the season comes to an end.
Thanks

Are You set on camping? If not, Island Acres in Gunnison has very reasonable room rates. Of course, being so close to season, availability may be limited. It is a short drive to a lot of great deer hunting. I'd recommend hunting the sage country if there is weather. Otherwise, get back in towards the Powderhorn and gain elevation. Of course, depending on the quality of buck you're after, it could be a short, easy hunt or a long, difficult hunt. The sage country holds a lot of deer. Not the biggest bucks but in the unit but, a lot of respectable 4 points and a few better. Those have been my observations. The last I hunted it was 2nd season deer in '13. I've hunted 67 about 4-5 times. All except for my last hunt, the others were prior to '07.
