Unit 52 Mule Deer

I posted over in the Mule deer section, figured i would try here. I was finally able to draw a tag in New Mexico. I pulled an archery tag in September. I have spent the last week scouring google earth and Hunt x maps trying to get an idea of the unit. Is there a decent area to start and we will be moving around alot. Anyone with a tad of info can shoot me a pm. Good luck to everyone this year!

I antelope hunted this unit last August. Didn't see a single deer. I have saw a few in October but the density seems to be really low in this unit. Did see a couple big bucks near the tower on top of San Antonio mountain. Overall more elk than deer in 52

Look at the bright side at least you are in rio arriba county! Number one b & c county in the world for mulies. Just on the wrong side of the county. There are a few really big ones in this unit just gonna have to work a little harder. Some of the people that are in the unit more than I can maybe help you a little more than I. Good luck

Will be going into that unit soon and will pm you my finds. Not a lot of deer but like Swampokie said there are some good ones. The ones on Antonio might be worth while. During gun season there are too many orange. I will be in Aphacie canyon.

I applied for unit 81 Co archery mule deer. One of the best mule deer I have ever seen was in NM unit 52 by just a few yards. I tried for a picture but he evaded me. I doubt I get drawn but two new guys will buy otc elk archery so will still be nearby. Trophy mule deer seem seek the same places year after year even if it's different deer. I love to find those big ones
