unit 50 elk?

how is the elk heard doing in unit 50? Never hunted idaho but looking at as many areas as possible. I heard wolves have impacted that area pretty hard. Looking at mid sept for an archery hunt. Is this area an otc archery tag? The terrain looks picture perfect out there.

beautiful country, yes otc tag and yes wolves have made their presence known, numbers for elk are way way down for this area

What about unit 49 or the units around the Palisades?

yes, 49 aswell, palisades side of state does have wolves in there too but the numbers aren't near as high as those central Idaho units, and plenty of elk .

I think I have it narrowed down to unit 49 or possibly 36a unit 50 see to get much more pressure, I heard there are a decent amount of elk on some private land that is in the idaho yes program, is it worth getting a mule deer tag for this area?

if you can get on priv land u are set, and if you have the cash to spare id deff get a deer tag. keep in mind that 50 and 49 are in fact otc tags but 36a is a controlled tag. the access yes program has been awesome for idaho, i take full advantage of it. but you said archery, sorry, all those units are open for archery otc.
