Going to hunt general season deer in this unit. Haven't been there, but not unfamiliar with Idaho deer hunting...I have several areas marked out on my gps to look at. I'll be focusing on the 50/49 border kinda, and have been very successful in 49 in the past..looking for some new country and may end up in 49 after the 24th. Im hauling a SxS and a 4 wheeler into the unit but not sure how much they'll be used. Also taking my backpacking gear as I'd like to get away from the roads/trails. I'm not sure what kind of buck to expect out of this unit but I also know there aren't 30"ers around every brush patch. Any tips as far as camp areas, deer movement, experiences, whatever..will be there around the 20th. Im looking at the Antelope Creek area as a starting point.

Very few deer in the area during hunting season. Most of that area is a wintering area.

My maps indicate areas up to over 10,000 feet of elevation near there..I highly doubt there are no deer near there..I typically find more deer in the lower sage/brush zones than up in the timber that time of year. If they are up higher I?m willing to go up there after em.

I didn't say there was no deer. Just very few. Good luck.
