well, did my very first turkey hunt and ill be going to buy a second tag come Monday.... it was awesome!!! on Tuesday morning I was out in middle of the river fishing in 70 degree weather, by 1 that afternoon high winds came followed by a snow storm! the next morning was the opener for my tag.... wanting blind and decoy set up before daylight I was sitting in blind after wading through river to an island where I've found turkeys on trips prior, all this mind you in the middle of heavy snow fall. I start hearing gobbles behind me but it wasn't light yet so I didn't want to call, I texted FINK instead telling him how exciting it was. finally it got light and I started calling, I got a response everytime but after an hour nothing came in, so I decided to leave blind and find them. 50 yrds later I spot 15 hens in a big opening of trees followed by 3 toms.... I worked through the thick brush to other side of where they were feeding to and I got on knees and waited. first turkey I seen with a beard got it! was a rush and I wish I would've been turned on to it a long time ago. ill get pic up sometime today. thanks for all your help Fink!

Ivorytip, congrats on your first turkey I can see you're hooked now. I got one the other day nothing big but I broke the spell on me this year. It's been tough to get out this season. My mom moved and such. Oh well.

thanks CA, yeah its already gone:cool: so damn good, cut it up into nugget sized chunks and dipped in flour then egg then Italian seasoned breading and fried it. the breast meat was superb, the leg and thigh...... holly gross!! is that normal? totally diff taste, was so repelling. wild turkey on ice with wild turkey was a good combo...

Sorry to aid in the new addiction!!... Come to Kansas or Missouri next spring and we'll knock some down!

Congrats again on the success, I was not so patiently awaiting the good word all morning.

I've always put mine in an oven bag with some sort of rub on it and cook in the oven, just like thanksgiving!

I cut mine into strips and make turkey tenders, or put a rub on it and smoke it and then I cut slices off it and use it for lunch meat.
