If you live in the city a 22short usually makes less noise that a .17 or .22 caliber pellet rifle.

I just use live traps that I get from the county dog jail. Then if it is one that I want to dispose of I'll just take it out to the country and dispose of it and then take the trap back and tell them that I wasn't successful.

I can't remember the last time I saw
22 shorts. We used to go to the local shop
and ask for "Cat killers" and your set for a week.
Now they look at you like your crazy.Or
try to hand you a pellet gun.

I inherited a nice little Winchester 62A along with a couple boxes of 22 shorts from an old buddy of mine. Can't wait to test it out, he always said it made very little noise but was killer on rabbits.

Interesting. I wont be buying one though. Too many toys as it is.

Side note:

If you want to shoot rodents on the down low.

I highly recommend one of these in .22 caliber.

I'm 100% confident it would/could kill a cat (deader than a door-nail potentially) who is doing the river-dance on the hood of a freshly washed truck.

JBA Exact Jumbo heavy pellets work well.... Its potentially the most accurate thing I own and it sounds like a paper stapler going off....literally. I use it regularly to control populations of various pest species.

I have also read great reviews on the .25 but it is louder (Still super quiet though)
