Sold my compound bow last year and was thinking about getting back into archery hunting but using traditional equipment ( recurve ). Mentioned this to a guy i work with that hunts with compound bow and is very good with it has killed elk the last four or five years with it.he stated that i wouldnt be allowed to hunt in his camp because traditional equipment is not ethical enough. I ask him if he ever heard of fred bear. I also reminded him out of those five or so years he has hit and lost a couple of elk. Just thought i would throw this out for conversation.

He doesn't sound like much of a friend. He has the same attitude that some fly fishermen have against those that use bait for fishing and look down their noses at us.
But then again it's the same attitude I have towards those that want to use crossbow during archery season.

My friends who hunt with stickbows outnumber my friends that hunt with compounds 25:1. They've killed every animal in North America from Antelope to Polar Bear. All 29 species when you put the guys and gals together. Your friend is sadly painting with a broad brush and is fairly ignorant.
I'll put my ethics up against anyone and I've not shot a compound in 15 years. Ethics has NOTHING to do with the bow.

Traditional archery equipment isnt ethical? Ummm...what? Sure, modern compound bows make it easier because they give you more range but come on, any skilled bowhunter could be just as effective with either.
