we do a lot of shoot and its very nice when laying behind the rifle and super easy to cycle shells.

Sweet looking set-up. I too put an oversized knob on a couple of rifles and it really improves cycling the action. Especially while wearing gloves.

It reduces surface tension.
It reduces weight.
It gives a place for debris to move into instead of wearing on your bolt and raceway.
