Living in a pretty rural area had good & bad circumstances. Internet service is pretty bad, as DSL is the only real provider and at times it is really slow. THE GOOD.. Century Link is the local provider and I keep a land line phone so I can get internet. They are upgrading the service installing new fiber optic cable. THE BAD.. They hired a contractor to survey and mark all the underground stuff (water lines, gas lines, phone lines, etc) so they could avoid damage when they dig the new trench. Well you guessed it, the contractor missed a phone/internet cable for our county road. About 25 customers went dead when our cable got cut. THE UGLY.. It took a week to get it repaired!

The only good thing to come out of this is I bitched enough to Century Link that they will not charge me for the month of September. Also, when everything is complete, I should have much faster internet....that remains to be seen. LOL

A good friend works for Century Link out of Grand Junction. We were talking the other day and he said that things are just going to get worse instead of better especially in the rural areas. They just don't want to spend the money that it takes to upgrade everything and keep it going.

JimP is correct, put in new "faster" system for us and the landline keeps cutting out.At least 4 times in past 5 months. They send out a Tech. and he screws around for a few hours. He always ends up calling the cable co. and they have it fixed in less than an hour.?
