Anyone know about these guys? Boy they kill some awesome bulls!
I'm trying to find draw odds for the area??
I think they hunt 70, 71? Doesn't list these units in the draw odds.
They don't say. I would love to go on one hunt like this in my life. Not in the near future, but maybe someday.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated, Thanks!!

Notice how every picture of theirs is taken with fully outstretched arms...and a bull head sitting on a log...and a camera angle from way below...They are good at photography, the majority of bulls arent nearly as big as they appear. . I know of them and the owners very well...i guided right next to them for years..I will say one thing without getting into details publicly...If you are going to do one trip like this in your life..There are numerous other outfitters in that area that I will suggest to you...and Swift Creek is definitely not one of them. Feel free to PM me if you would like more info on better outfitters that hunt the wilderness and take great bulls consistently.

Don't remember the unit off hand , but it is a general area that a nonresident can draw with a point in the special and two points in the regular draw.Wilderness hunt have to hire a guide as a nonresident. Hope this helps

I'm bored so I looked at the pictures. Pictures taken from that angle make the front tines look almost as long as the main beams. Not sure how you can even tell what the elk actually look like.

Don't know anything about them. However, if I'm interested in an outfitter, I ask for a list of references as well as a list of hunters who were unsuccessful. If they won't give the info for any reason, look elsewhere. A call to the G&F, Forest Service, and State Outfitter Board can give insight about complaints, violations or other problems. You might also get positive info that might seal the deal.

There's also a website where outfitters are reviewed, I forgot the name
Google Outfitter Reviews and you'll find several sites. Just be careful because the outfitters can be sponsors or provide free hunts and review dates can be old. Most sitesnwill charge you a subscription fee. Most do not have enough reviews to be useful.

Most states and provinces have an outfitter organization that keeps track of complaints, though not all outfitters belong and not all upset hunters contact them.

Realize too that some hunters just have unrealistic expectations or just want to blame their own failures on their guide or outfitter. I'm sure the guys on the forum who have guided could tell you stories about that until the cows come home.

When you buy a guided hunt you buy an opportunity and an experience, not a trophy. There's a big difference. There are a lot of things outfitters and guides cannot control, like weather, your conditioning and your ability to shoot accurately and fairly quickly. There is no way to guarantee either your experience or your trophy unless you want a high fence hunt, which is not really hunting.

Our forum is a good source of honest feedback, especially if you PM guys who have experience with an outfitter. Ideally, you want someone who has guided for them.

When you decide which outfitters to call, I always say not to ask for references - ask for the contact info for all hunters in the last three years so they can't cherry pick. If they won't agree to that, move on.

Mike Eastman has a great chapter in his elk book about finding a good outfitter and what questions to ask them. I thought that chapter was outstanding and worth way more than the price of the book. I highly recommend getting that book no matter what species you are interested in booking a hunt for.

I subscribed to one of those site for a couple of years and you are right...they really have sparse coverage. I actually subscribed so I could write a review on an outfitter I used for an elk hunt in Wyoming, which was awful. That's a different story I wrote about here a few years back.

Just remember....buyer beware. Use the references and ask for all of the people who hunted with them. Usually an outfitter will only refer you to hunter they know will give a good review.

Ohio unfortunatly
Look up Lee Livingston, he seems like a straight shooter to me, I'd like to take my son with him and maybe Myron Wakkuri. If N.M. or Az. interests you look up Jeff Lester of hunt Hard Outfitters, he saved the day or my hunt back in 2003, in Az.! Hes been shooting some good animals.Hope this helps
