Before I headed over to South Africa on my safari I picked up a Bog Pod to practice with. The funny thing was that when I got over there and hunting that is the same shooting stick that all the PH's in our group were using.

It is three legged with adjustable legs so you can use it from sitting to standing. I was on on sitting for over 2 hours waiting for a kudu to stand up and had no problems with them. The head can also be changed out for a camera and binocular/spotting scope set up.

I use the Primos Gen 3. I like that it comes with heads for both a gun rest and optic mount with a quick-change on it. And I love how easy it is to adjust - just pull the trigger, angle it how you want it, and let go. My one complaint is that it's not as quiet as I'd like if you extend it too quickly.

Swagger is Bi-Pod meets shooting stick, I have killed two animals off of them now and really like it.

My set-up is expensive, but worth it to me because I use it for optics and shooting among other things.

I have a Promaster 525 tripod with an Outdoorsmans head and shooting rest. I like the Promaster tripod better than the compact medium Outdoorsmans I had after using both for a while. I like the removeable leg I've used as a trekking pole or to hold up a tarp during a rain. I like the Outdoorsmans rest because it has 2 separate yokes to hold the rifle instead of a single Y. It helps me be much steadier without really being slower or more cumbersome to use. It's not worth the price for sure if it will only be for shooting, but if you need a multi-use tripod set-up this one has worked well for me.

The Bog Pods, how do you adjust them? Is it like the Primos just pull the trigger or is it on the legs itself?

Thank You, Scott

I use a bog pod. If money was no object, I would have mcseals setup.
I went 3 years without drawing any tag I applied for a while back, I upgraded my optics and gear during that time. Then I got more realistic and started hunting places I had better odds of drawing. I like the gear and glass I got during that time, but that's to long to go without hunting out of state. Never again.

Hey Scott, does the swagger make the gun unbalanced? I like the way it functions but it looks like it would be awkward the way it attaches to the gun.

The Bog Pod, does it have lock on each leg or just on one leg?

There are two locks on each leg. One for each section. It also has rubber feet with retractable spikes

It doesn't sound like you can rapidly adjust it if you have to compared to the Primos

No but it cost a lot less. Also you will find that if you are in a place or find yourself in a situation where speed is needed then no bipod or artificial rest is going to be fast. If fast is what you need then you can extend it and carry it that way then just spread the legs out further to lower or closer to raise it.

As I mentioned I used one in Africa and none of the 8 animals even knew that I was there from a 90 yard shot to the one at 479 yards and they all were shot off of a Bog Pod.

That makes sense, I think I will get one, there is 2 different types of the tripods that they have one has the red on the legs and is about 90 dollars and the other is about 139 dollars. Thank You for the information and advice.
