My friend and hunting partner from Hawaii and I both filled our tags with bulls on our hunt in the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Oregon. Even though this is some rugged ground - I have yet to find much flat country - I love this place. We were back in about five miles with everything brought in on our backs. It was my partners first Elk in his second year of hunting. Not the biggest bulls but one great hunt with excitement everyday. I put on about 95 miles in 8 days. I will post pics soon with more information to follow. Just rolled in tonight, a couple days early, and am pretty beat - in a great way.
I may just right up the story for Mark's (25contender) contest.
The only bad thing about the trip is that it's over.
Damn I love chasing Bulls with a bow in the back country. After about 30 years of chasing Elk the excitement of the hunt and the beauty of the high country never gets old - It just gets better and fuels the passion that keeps this 57 year old young and longing for next September.
