Stone Glacier fabric. How loud is it?

Has anybody had any problems with the cordura fabric being loud when going through brush? I am about 99.99% sure about getting the Sky 5100 from them.

I have the Sky 5100 and don't think it's noisy. Most of the packs at this level are made from the same material. I work with people who have the Kifaru EMR II, EXO mountain 3500, and Kuiu ICon pro 7200. They're all similar in build. I'm very satisfied with my Stone Glacier. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

Right on here. The only fabric that would truly be quiet is the saddle cloth type that is really heavy. I doubt if any high end packs will ever be made with this fabric.

I have had the SG Solo since 2013. I have never considered it noisy.

Well just a little update. I did buy the Stone Glacier 5100 and I love it!! Just used it for a week on an elk/moose hunt and it rocked it. The videos don't do this pack justice. All I can say is very very satisfied

What about the price difference between the three. Is it worth it to spend more money on he kifaru over stone glacier or stone glacier over kuiu?

I was faced with the same decision last year after I found out I drew an Alaska sheep tag. I wanted to cut bulk and weight of my hauling pack. I had it narrowed down to Kifaru or Stone Glacier. I saw quite a few bad reviews for hauling heavier loads (100+ lbs) with the kuiu so it was eliminated. Just about everyone I know that owns Stone Glacier love it but for me Kifaru had a few extra features I really like. For one...I don't believe SG has a camo pattern. That was super important to me. The second thing I like about Kifaru is it is possible to swap bags on the same frame. I bought one bag for heavy, bulky loads (EMR II) and a 2nd bag as more-or-less a day pack (Timberline 2). Most of the reviews I saw mentioned that the Kifaru frame was a bit more comfortable than the SG. The other thing I like about Kifaru is there are so many different bags available and it's possible to go basic or add pockets and other accessories as needed.

In regard to material...I have no idea about SG but the Kifaru material and stitching seems rock solid plus fairly quiet. It may not be as quiet as other fabrics but I would rather have something that is going to be fairly waterproof plus stand up to use and abuse! It was important for me to have a fairly light pack. SG is about as light as they come....and is likely a tad lighter than some of the similar sized Kifaru setups.

I would advise anyone looking at packs to take a look at the Kifaru youtube videos available at their websites. They will give you a better feal for the bags, frames, and options available. If $ is a concern...I ended up buying 2 almost new bags and a frame on several hunting forums (Kifaru's and Rokslide website) and saved several hundred $! Good luck!

SG material is quiet, the only time the x-pac is loud is when you are setting up the load shelf.

I was in the market for a pack earlier this year. I stopped at the kifaru headquarters and checked their gear out. I work with people that have the major packs that I could try on. I tested the EMR 2 on a duplex frame, the Exo mtn 3500, and the Kuiu icon pro 7200. I purchased the Stone Glacier Sky 5100 to compare. I ended up keeping the Sky 5100 as my pack. As far as fit and functionality, it was my favorite. The Exo mtn was a close second. I'm just a fan of the ultra light packs with no frills. I've loaded my SG with over 80 pounds and it rides very well. As the packs that I've mentioned go, the SG, Exo, and Kifaru are in a league of their own. For the extra 100-200$ I would definitely not get the Kuiu over the top 3. The other 3 will definitely last you longer.

Its pretty quiet or at least quiet enough. Both my buddy and I shot our bulls this year with a bow while wearing the packs.

I think it is a perfect pack....the 5100. Oh yeah and I sold my Kifaru with bikini frame to buy it and like the SG more. The Kifaru just didn't fit me well and didn't care for the large lumbar pad.
