Went out after we finally got some snow in the ground. Had a great day hunting but no luck. Called in three coyotes but they would come in under 300 yards.

Cut one track that was a bit to old to track to far but we walked it for awhile anyway then found the kill site of a animal then 400 yards away on the trail and found this pony. Looks like the coyotes drove the lion away or I would bet he would still be around.

That sucks, with this weather the snow prob won't last long. On the bright side, I'd rather see the cats eating those wild horses than the deer.

I feel your pain. I had an aborted lion hunt in Wyoming a few weeks ago. There's snow up high, but no game there, so no lions. In the foothills, it was just brown. So, we went to plan B; snowmobiling with guns. We went high with the snowmobiles and managed to call six coyotes into gun range. After that, I headed a couple hundred miles north for a week of snowmobiling in Idaho/Montana/Wyoming.

Sounds like a great time anyway.

Is that kill close enough to check? You might catch something on it. I finally took a cougar on my 5th hunt. Had a blast, some hunts easy, some hard because of running cats, including a Lynx who went about 15 miles on the gps, took all day. We kind of regretted deciding to chase the Lynx on a Cougar hunt, but he sure was pretty.

Not really. I wanted to set some trail cams on it but of corse I had just taken them out of my gear bag. If I had the time I would have been sitting on that kill the nest morning.

This year was rougher than I've ever dealt with. I became a doplar radar whore, any chance of snow I was there. Paid off after miles of driving, caught some bobbers too. I've got video and pics but can't seem to post them. Why can't I post pics and video from my IPhone? Grrrrr!
