Spring Bear

Is anybody planning to hunt spring bears this year? Looks like I'll be heading to NW Montana this May for my first attempt at it. Sounds like the weather has been much warmer than normal, and I am wondering how this might affect my hunt. Never been to this part of the country, so I am just looking forward to the experience and filling my tag would be a bonus. I would appreciate any insight or advice that more experienced guys might have

Guess its gonna be crowded up there this year then because i will also be there. My girlfriend has recently got an interest to go on her first hunt. She says she wants her first hunt to be for a bear so off to montana we go.

I think with this warm weather it could be a great year to find a good one. Typically the cold and snow pack keeps them close to their dens until mid May, but this year could be good right off the bat.

So you all are coming up to my neck of the woods! It should be a good year. As I let the dog out this morning it's snowing again and there is an inch or so on the ground. Winter is not over yet.

I'll be trying again this spring for my first bear. Got out twice last year and saw a few bears but just couldn't make it happen for one reason or another. My hunting partner and I hope to get out for a couple of weekend backpack trips into some southern exposure lower elevation alpine and see what we can make happen. We're not allowed to bait here in BC, Canada so it'll be spot and stalk or still hunting for us. Best of luck to everyone getting out.

I have mostly been looking at areas around Kalispell and Libby, but haven't settled on any exact locations yet. I'll be coming from Virginia so it's all new to me. We scheduled a week for hunting so hopefully we will get to see a bunch of different areas.

I'll be up in the thompson falls area, or the snowies near lewistown. Depends on snow pack. It'll be my first attempt and i am pumped!!!
