Last Sunday I was able to get out for an evening spring bear hunt with a couple of my friends. We spotted a bear working over a bottom once the magic hour hit and immediately new it was a good bear. I got behind the gun, ranged him, and took the shot once the opportunity presented itself. The bear immediately rolled and got back up and disappeared into the timber. With darkness about an hour out we wanted to get down there and get on his blood trail ASAP. We followed him about 80yds into the timber when I heard something and knew it was him, I ran up a little bit to see better and I saw my bear trying to get away. I threw my gun up and hit him again as he was quartered away, he dropped and started spinning and rolling towards us. He was growling, roaring, and biting at himself while rolling and he got hung up on a small fir tree about 10yds away just as I got another shell chambered and hit him again. He was done! I looked to my side and both my buddies where right there beside me with pistols drawn. This was definitely a moment I will not forget and a reminder to always be prepared for anything. Hope everyone else has had a successful spring!
