I'm looking at buying a new spotting scope and a camera to digiscope with. I'd like to have video and still pics. Wondering what everyone is using. I like my phone scope but I'd like a little better quality. I'm thinking on a vortex scope but open to the others as well possibly maven, Nikon or swaro. Just trying to figure out what would be good combo and what everyone else uses. Will also be buying a small handicam to carry but I know they are difficult to digiscope with which is why I'd like a dslr or smaller quality point and shoot. A lot of my stuff is all horseback so smaller the better but quality is also important. Let me see ur setups and what you like or would suggest different.

I am using a Vortex Razor HD with a Sony RX 100 iii. Its not a cheap camera but it takes DSLR quality photo and video and is very compact. I ended up making a cheap PVC adapter to attach it to my camera and it actually works pretty well. The only complaint I have is that I like to use the self timer to take stills (to reduce camera shake), and the only time interval option on the RX100 is 10 seconds. It can be frustrating at times when you try to take a picture and by the time the 10 seconds is up the animal has its head down again. I like to put videos together so I typically take videos with it, and you can always pull a still image off the video.

I run the Swarovski with the TLS-APO adapter. I use a Sony mirrorless with Bluetooth to my phone so I can watch through my phone and take pics/ video in real time without having to touch the scope or camera. Stay away from a DSLR since the mirror slap is enough to jiggle the scope.

I have a Swarovski ATX 85mm. I use the Sony RX100III and a homemade adapter as well. Issues with it are I have to zoom the lens prior to mounting and unmounting to eliminate vignetting. If the camera times out and turns off, the lens extends back out and push against the eyepiece and drop off the scope if I am not paying attention.

I also use my iPhone 7 plus with the Novagrade adapter. This is great setup and it is easy to get good results.

I'm running the Sony RX100III, as well. I also made an adapter and attach it to my Meopta S2 spotter. No complaints here.

Are you looking for full hd type footage or something to show the friends and what not? I have a cannon power shot 360 with a old tines up adapter I re worked to put on it. It rides on a zeiss 85mm scope. I find that a real light camera has me taking it more places and that = more and better pics most everything I do is off foot and a ways back so I like the lighter camera.
