Anyone familiar with the Spiegelberg Ranch HMA in Wyoming?
It's a fairly small HMA. Bucks are generally average-size. If you draw the limited period it would be a decent hunt for a 12-13" goat, the occasional 14"+ on a good year. If you don't, you'll be out there with lots of other dudes. The key to those unlimited periods is to just park and walk your arse off. Most guys won't do that.

During the unlimited period there can be.
Many of the unlimited HMA's can be a joke, especially toward the end of the season. On one I once witnessed a traffic jam of 5 trucks over a rise in a county (in which I was the last truck) waiting for some dude to shoot a buck from the bar ditch . . . Like I said above, if you have to hunt them, or any pressured public land antelope, park the rig and get walking. You'll find them eventually, though I have seen some virtually devoid of antelope toward the end of the season.

We had good success on a unlimited HMA in mid Oct. last year. We probably only spent 1 1/2 days hunting the HMA due to rain/snow and bad roads but we only saw 2 other trucks. It's a pretty big HMA though.

Thanks for the info guys....really appreciate it.

We are researching all possibilities for the hunt. Having 0 PP and not really wanting to do the special draw is a factor.

Also, my hunting partner is wanting to stay in the southern part for family reasons and 44 and Spiegelberg Ranch looks like a possibility. Understand though that the "unlimited" tags could cause an issue with hunter numbers.

Thanks again.

There are a ton of people that hunt that thing for does. It gets cutthroat and only a road separates the huntable land from private. After the first 24 hours you will notice the private land fills up with goats and nary a one to be spotted on the HMA. I would not waste my time on it, there are other better options in Wyoming.
