Just got back from NW South Dakota hunting the rifle opener. I was lucky enough to take my biggest mule deer to date. Not sure what it scores yet but it taped at 25.5" wide.

Nice buck! That looks like the ruger american rifle, how do you like it?
Thanks, I love it. Very light, shoots great groups with "cheap" ammo plus amercian made hard to go wrong.

I have the 270 my uncle also has the rifle in 30-06 and he is very impressed with his as well.

Congradulations on a great buck!

I am planning a hunt for nW sd down the road once it finally works into our schedule. We have like 5 pp's already, which is a huge overkill! We are looking into unit 35-L. Just curious as to what unit you hunted.

Thanks!

We hunt in 35-C, deer numbers were pretty good in that county this year from what we saw. You should have plenty of points to draw your tag, good luck and let me know if you draw next season I might be able to help point you in the right direction.

Next fall we will probably head back out to wyoming mule deer hunting. I am in the process of a career change, and I dont think november will work well next fall to take a trip. But the year after we may if I dont draw an elk tag in WY. I have been planning this hunt forever it seems.......the season dates just never seem to work out for my schedule.

But once we do go, I will keep in touch. 35-L encompasses most of the Custer NF, short pines, Slim Buttes, and Cave Hills areas. Its 100% public land. Before 35-L was created, we were going to apply for 35-C.

Once again, Great Buck!
