Anyone shooting Solid broadheads? If so are they worth the money and are they easy to sharpen? How do they fly compared to field points?

Thanks,

I shoot the 125 grain heads and love how they fly. I can't comment on ability to sharpen because I'm terrible at it.

Now as far as cost? If I was just now getting into them I'm not sure I could stomach the price. When I bought them they were around $65 a set.

Montec G5 125 grain and they fly great. The identical unsharpened practice broadheads eliminate any need to tune your bow between field tips and broadheads.

they are absolutely worth it. they stay sharp and are easy to sharpen. you can shoot multiple animals with the same head because they stay sharp. I have killed 5 deer with the same head and not think twice about shooting a 6th. if the blade or head breaks send it back and they will mail you a other one. they shoot perfect with no planing. I can group them at 90 yards same as my fieldtips. they are expensive but being able to shoot them again makes it cheaper in the long run. keep and eye on archery talk and you can find good deals on them.

Same here....of note I learned this year and with some help from Stay Sharpe that the Montec's 125g only come in stainless/powdered metal (silver)......they are not as easy to sharpen nor can you get them as sharpe as the Carbon Steel (black) models......CS models only come in 100 grains and below.

I just bought a pack of 100 gr. Solids, when they came, they were OK sharp. Not razors by any means, one would shave hair if I pushed hard enough, the other two would not. I ordered their leather strap for sharpening and was able to get them better, but still not very sharp.

Shooting Test. They flew straight out of my bow like the field tips, but at 50 + yards, they are dropping in height more than my field points and my Slick Trick 4 blades. Also shooting into my foam block target, I am getting 2" more penetration from my dull slick trick practice head than I did from the factory sharp Solid. So if you ask me if they are worth it? I say no right now. Now if I hit an elk in the shoulder will it pass through? maybe, but I'm not aiming for a shoulder. I love the design and how tough they look, but not impressed how they came dull to me and how hard I've worked to get them sharp enough to shave some hair. I'll be shooting my slick tricks again this year, and will sell the Solids at a discount.

I purchased 2 boxes and they are not flying great out of my bow. However I do not think it is the head. I am having a problem getting my bow tuned and in Time.
