So im looking for a sleeping bag it Must be synthetic since im allergic to feathers. i know kind of throws a screw in things but cant help that. i was thinking something in the 0 to 15 degree rating. and i would like to stay under 150 since i dont make much but i know quality usually pays for itself. any advice? (ps anything under 5 pounds would be light for me being my bag that i have now weighs 9lb)

Look in the classifieds on forums like this one. Might be able to find something in your budget but it will be tough.

Marmot Trestles would be a good one for those criteria.

BTW, have you ever slept in a high quality down bag? Just wondering if the allergy is to the dust in feathers or the feathers themselves? High end down is pretty clean stuff.

I would look at what Slumberjack has to offer. I have 3 of their sleeping bags now and they have never failed me. They are lightweight enough to keep you happy, off great quality, and you can pick them up at cabelas for less than $100, which will save you enough money for something else!

hey Squirrel, as far as performance, warmth and quality, i have no issues with Slumberjack. The only thing i have found, since i backpack a lot and worry about weight, is the size of the sleeping bag. The 30 degree bag is super lightweight and very compact. i also have the 15 and 0 degree bag, the 0 degree bag is somewhat bulky and is a little bit heavier than what i would prefer. For the price and quality though i personally think its hard to beat. I'd rather save money and carry a few extra ounces, I'm a poor student after all with limited funds! I hope you find what you are looking for and hope this helps a little.

I have 2 of the 20 degree slumberjack bags that the kids have used pretty hard over the last 10 years. Light weight and inexpensive, I still see them on campmor.com very reasonably priced. God bless
