Have excellent chance to draw Silvies tags this year. I know its the type of terrain I like and I try to hunt units I've never been to. Should we draw this will be the year I break-in my son-in-law. He's never hunted anything, oh boy...

Im curious to hear any Silvies stories and of course grateful for any tips.

Thanx

Good deer numbers. Lots of road hunters. Hunt hard and all season and I think you will have a good hunt. Hunted it a few years ago and saw several shooters. I like that unit for deer, good luck,

We'll get the guy broke in right so he does a good job of gutting, skinning and packing so he does most of the work in your later years!

I've hunted elk and deer out of Silves. Mostly on the west side of the unit. Like the majority of units, its not as good as it used to be. That doesn't mean its no good, its just not as good as it was 5-10 years ago. Lots of people road hunting. Like LostinOregon said, if you get off the roads you should do fine.

I have a vision of 'road hunters' , the guys whos first stop for hunting supplies is at the liquor store. With some luck they will help keep the deer in the canyons.

True enough. I hunted Murderers Creek about 10 years ago and nearly got trampled by deer and a huge 5 point bull that saw me as an invader. Saw horns every day out there. Took home a nice three point.
