Hoshour, I usually like and respect what you have to say but I can't let this one go. I believe the best linebacker in the league resides here in Denver and I think Cam will agree after that beat down in the super bowl.
OK. Here goes:
Pro Football Focus rates Luke Kuechly the #1 LB in the NFL.
NFL players voted him the top LB in the NFL and 7th best player in the league last year, 19 places ahead of the next LB on the list
1st Team All-Pro every season after his rookie year
All-time record for most tackles in one game - 26
Most interceptions of any LB since he came into the league
Best pass coverage rating of any LB in the NFL
Rated the best run-stopping LB in the NFL last two years in a row
Led the NFL in tackles his first 2 years, led the league in stops his 3rd year
One of only 3 LBs to win the Butkus Award as best LB in both college and the NFL and has won it twice in the NFL
NFL Defensive Player of the Year
The only player besides Lawrence Taylor to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and then NFL Defensive Player of the Year the next season

Hoshour,

I hope you are taking this all in fun because I don't think you can go wrong with either and I like fun debates like this. I do respect Luke but Von's stats are just as impressive and has Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP behind his name.
NFL.com just named him the 2nd best player in the NFL (only behind Tom Brady)as voted on by other players.
Pro Football Focus ranks him having more quarterback pressures per rush in NFL history, better than Derrick Thomas or Lawrence Taylor.
He ranks third in NFL history in sacks per game.

While stats are good, I also believe how they play in the games that matter are more important and I don't think there is many that compare to what Von did in the playoffs or Super Bowl. Otherwise Dan Marino would be considered the greatest quarterback ever.

Hello Roughwater,

I'll tell you a little about me and you can decide if we might be a fit. I'm 50 years old and am in pretty decent shape. Been training since January for an up and coming archery elk hunt in Colorado. I LOVE to elk hunt. I like to packpack in lite, find the elk, and be flexible with my camp location depending on where the elk are. I love to go DEEP into the mountains to get away from people. I will not camp next to a road. I don't hunt with complainers or people who talk excessively. I believe a have a pleasant, easy going personality and have been told so by others :). As far as team player goes - let's put it this way. I've called in a bull for my son that he shot and I've called in a bull for my best friend which he shot. Guess how many bulls people have called in for me? The big "0", and I'm pretty ok with that - but it is getting to be time for me to get a crack at one.

I have one week that I can burn with my vacation time. I want to be out there the last week of season. I figure I can be in the mountains September 17-24. Which means I leave Mississippi the evening of September 15th and come home the morning of September 25th.

Think on this and let me know your thoughts. Being 67 can mean at lot of different things. It can mean you can hike me into the ground, or it could mean you may not want to go as rugged as I'm talking. Regardless - let me know. Thank you!
