So with the long weekend coming up, my wife and I have decided to take our newborn out to Colorado for a family vaca. I will get about a day and a half worth of driving/walking/glassing in my unit hoping to get familiar with it for my September bow hunt. I thought about taking some cameras along. I assume trails and wallows may be my best bet as far as getting some decent pictures over the next several months. Anybody have any tips on making this trip a success??

The better you know your trails, legal ATV trails and then finding the spots that are good elk habitat the better. Some do their best to find the holes that are as far from trails as possible, if you find a few of them its a good thing. Good luck.

Not sure what part of Colorado you're going to, but if in Northern part we have some family friendly stuff going on in Laramie for the 4th and then next week for Jubliee days.
Enjoy your trip and hope the mosquitoes are not too bad. Watch out for those late afternoon thunderstorms, lightning kills.
I wouldn't leave an expensive cam in the woods, chances are it or the card will be gone by fall. Hang em up high I would suggest.
Look for some rub lines as well.

Thanks for the tips Wy-tex. I will be around Estes park Thursday and Friday for vacationing then down in the Gunnison area for scouting my unit for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully a thief will be the least of my worries but who knows nowadays.
