Looking for ideas for things to see and do near the SLC area.

I will likely be in the area on business the week of January 16th.

Any and all ideas are appreciated.

It isn't all that easy to explore the out-of-doors in the outdoor state (they like to call themselves that), especially around the big cities. Farmington Canyon (north of SLC) used to be one of the best places for easy access but the last time I checked the road was still closed (for more than 2 years) due to repairs and maintenance. I used to go up to the Farmington Campground and saw deer, elk, and moose quite often. There are other trails that are open to public use but they can be pretty crowded at times. Here is a link to a review of a couple of trails in the Farmington area.

Park City has scenic drives that are really nice too.

Antelope Island! Duh, should have remembered that one.

Any good location recommendations on the island for viewing muleys this time of year?
When do they start dropping antlers?

I've heard a few guy say they have seen an antler or two drop, but odds are most will be antlered for a while yet.
