Russell just added real tree max-1 camo to their apxg2 L4 gale jacket. How does everyone feel about this jacket? I wanted to get this because the price is right, at $169 it seems to be a good choice. I like to wear the max-1 camo for my high country early seasons. Any info on this jacket would be appreciated.

I have two of these, one in Kings Mountain Shadow and one in black. IMO they are well made, comfortable and a good value for the
dollar. I like the Kings Mountain Shadow for the Wyoming backcountry.

I have gale 4 and love it. Have had for 2 seasons and looking at getting second one in realtree ap. Great wind blocking however must layer in colder weather < 35. So far it has held up well for the price. UA has a new jacket similar to gale 4 called Rut wear if im not mistaken might be similar to look at. A little bit cheaper. 139 i Believe. bought the vest at sportsmans warehouse and cant wait to use in this year in backcounty.

I've got a brand new one I bought on clearance I'll make you (or anyone else) a sreamin deal on. It's black though and size medium. I have a camo one and love the jacket. Bought another in a weak moment and don't really need it.

I am looking at this jacket for wyoming elk hunting in late october mainly. I have the under armour 3.0 base layer and a sitka traverse mid layer. Would this jacket be enough to withstand late octobers weather with my layers? (-15F sometimes but mainly for 10F weather and windy).

WYrider, i have the gale l4 jacket and it works great. Ive worn my l4 in some pretty hard rain here in oregon before and stayed warm and dry. I can't say how well it will do in those temps because the lowest ive worn it in is in the mid 20's.
