Has anyone had any luck with this gear and does it run small or is the size pretty on?

I have been interested in Russell APX2 Gear as well, but not sure about it! I've been looking at First Lite, made in Ketchem, Id. This gear looks really good abit Price. What are you're guys thought on first lite?

I have had a chance to try on the Russell's stuff and it seemed to have a pretty standard fit to me. A little bigger than than their shirts of the same size but not that much different. Compared to the other Russell's stuff the rain gear fit pretty close to the same. I would say it fits a little snugger than the Browning Pac Lite rain gear that I have now. The Russell's pants did have a good fit in the crotch and around the lower leg. I find lots of rain gear hangs low in the crotch and loose around your boots, not great for quiet stalking.

I just picked up a Gale Jacket L4 and L3 zephyer pants. The Jacket fits a touch big but I believe that's so you can layer plenty underneath. So a little on the big size for a Large but still a large. I thought the L3 pants were terrible. Awkward cut with a really low waist. I'm fairly fit and find that most mountaineering cut gear fits well, so I was surprised at the fit of the L3 pant an sent them back. The jacket's a keeper though.

I've been using it for the past two seasons and love it. It's quiet, sheds water fairly well, and is pretty rip-resistant. If you hunt in colder weather, you'll want a good fleece, wool, or down insulating layer, but the gear is excellent.

P.S. Yes, Russell does sponsor our show, but 100% honest, this would be my gear of choice regardless, especially considering the price compared to similar products.

They are also going to start coming in some patterns designed more for the western hunter for 2011, like Kings mountain shadow, I can't wait.

New pattern! I've been wondering because it seems they quit making most of the apxg2 stuff in the brush camo. I have a bunch of the pieces, all in MO Tree stand, Gale coat, zephyr pants, Tundra top and bottom, and the L3 fleece. I am short and stocky(5'8" 195lbs.) and the large in everything seems to fit well. I hope they come out with the Kings Desert Shadow also. I am going to pick up some firstlite baselayers in the Max1 for early season and insulation for late season.

You'll be able to get select pieces in Realtree AP, Realtree Max-1, Realtree Max 4, Kings Mountain Shadow, and the Mossy Oaks flavors they have had in the past. I don't see any in Desert Shadow, but you never know.

Where are u finding all the new patterns it is coming out in? Well max1 would be good also. Kind of weird that they would offer realtree patterns when mossy oak makes it or owns it. I too got a bunch from Gander Mountain when it was on sale.

Met with one of the reps for Russell at the Western Expo. They had a set in Kings Mountain Shadow that they were giving away (I didn't win) but anyway they had a new catalog with their new gear and camo patterns.

I just picked up my first APXg2 gear last week. I got the zephyr pants and the L3 jacket. I am going to purchase the Gale Jacket also, but the store did not have my size when I went to purchase the othe stuff. Just have to wait until a new shipment comes in. The pants and jacket seemed to fit me really well and look forward to adding more layers and testing this stuff out this fall. Heading out west for the first time ever. Headed to Wyoming for antelope and mule deer, which I am hoping I will draw. Getting new stuff is always cool.

Just received word from them and they are indeed carrying the APXg2 in Realtree AP, Realtree Max-1, MO Infinity, MO Brush, and Kings Mountain Shadow. I'm not sure when it will be available yet.

I am trying to get into the Russell gear as well. Without being able to try it on for size, it's hit and miss. I bought the L4 Gale. Looks like a great jacket. I am a slim 5' 11" and 170lbs. The large is a bit big. Is the medium much smaller than the large? Any recomendation on the sizing for a person of my size? I tried on the L3 Zephyr pants, medium, several months ago at Sportsman Warehouse, when it was full price. The overall fit was good, but the rear seemed pretty snug when bending or squatting....and I have a pretty small rear (I know, TMI). They didn't have it in large for comparison. Any helpful input is appreciated...thanks.

Well, more Russell gear is on the way. I ordered the L1 Alpine top, L2 Tundra top, L3 Zephyr jacket and pants...all in large. I decided to keep the large L4 Gale jacket. Should be here Tues or Wed.

Zephyr Pants

How late in the season do you guys use your zephyr pants. They seem pretty thin for late October early November. What have you found to be the best layer to out under them? I just ordered every piece they make except the Gale pants and Gale Vest which they didn't have my size(super sale on this stuff right now).

woodtick,
When it gets into late October and November, I usually wear my baselayer and zephyr pants when I hike in, but once I get set up start glassing, if I get cold, I throw on the Gale pants/bibs and I'm set. The combination of the baselayer, zephyr pants and the gale bibs have never left me cold.

Just my two cents...
