hi all, i drew a gen. elk tag and should get my region h deer tag. i was wondering if anyone has any pointers for a new DIYer. this is my first ever elk hunt and i am new to region h. my plan is to do a combo hunt sept. 26 - oct 2. so i was wondering if i will find both species in the same general area or will the deer still be up high? any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks

you should be able to find both species in the same general area, but you need to get away from the road. I usually hunt about 4 or 5 miles from a road and hardly ever see anyone and see lots animals. It should be a great hunt. The winter 2 years ago took a toll on the deer out here so be prepared for that too. Hope this helps you out. Good Luck!!!
Mm thanks for the reply I've been studying Google earth every chance I get and it looks like awesome country. I can't wait to head up the trail
