Rangefinder Suggestions?

Well last night pulling my gear together for general elk my Nikon 3i has officially given up the ghost. Really can't blame it, last year crossing a creek it decided to jump from my shirt pocket and take a swim...never really was the same after rolling down stream for awhile.

I really have no preference to be honest. Part of me just wants to re-buy a 3i.

I use it to range from 30 yards out to 300 max...bow and rifle use; really don't need it to do anymore than that. Willing to spend I guess $300 or so. Any suggestions?

The Leupold RX series TBR with DNA have been solid rangefinders. The new 850 yard model is in your price range and suitable for your stated use. I am not familiar with current Nikon offerings. But my brother has been very happy with his Leupold 1,000 yard unit, I used it too and was impressed for it's price point. It may be worth a look.

I have a LEICA CRF 800 laser Rangefinder. Had it for probably 10 years. It's fantastic. I'd use as primary noc if i didn't get eye strain...optics are that good!

You can find them for around $250 used on e-bay.

I've even ranged ducks and geese as they are approaching in the air...it's THAT good!

redfield raider. For those yardages and that price range you cant beat it. They are tuff as nails and very dependable. I have a rx 1000 that ranges a little farther than the raider but the raider is better for shorter ranges and especially bow hunting.

Short yardage...all you need is a leupold, vortex, even a better bushnell. If you think for any reason you'll be doing longer distances...like say 500+ yards. Reach a little deeper into the wallet and find another $200 and buy a Leica. Maybe the best piece of equipment I have ever owned. Precise, easy to use, good in all conditions, my Vortex ranger is good, but nothing compared to Leica.

What TJ said......Leupold, Vortex...those are both lifetime warranty companies. You only gotta buy once and if it breaks, send it in for a new one.

I don't think its lifetime on rangefinders. I may be wrong but used to only be one or two years. Redfield same warranty as leupold and half the price

Thanks for everyone's suggestions, you were a big help.

Ordered the vortex and used some points I had accumulated.....$266 + S/H; suppose to be here before the 30th which is go time for me.
