Popeye, Morty and Goliath - Where are they now?
So EHJ just posted this amazing video of these three giants. I was just a young teen when these bucks were still on the hoof and everyone was trying to harvest them. I also grew up hunting (relatively) near their winter range and where many believed they were during the fall and remember the hype they generated - especially Popeye. My brother has old VHS videos (I forget if it's Eastmans, Monster Muleys or David Long) that include old footage of Morty and Popeye.
I even had a guy once tell me his dad took a shot at Popeye one year but missed. I don't buy this though, I think these bucks were big because (like Mike says) they had a hidey hole or went nocturnal, not because hunters missed them.
If others out there have more info or pics on any of the three I'd love it if you shared. Mike says only Morty was harvested (by a Utah hunter), does anyone know who harvest him or have pics of the mount? Does anyone out there know where the sheds for these bucks are? Surely someone out there has a mount of a matched set. Anyone?
