Hello everyone,

My name is Allen and I?ll be moving to Fort Collins CO in about 8 months. I?ll be finishing my enlistment in the Marine Corps then going to school in CO. I?m from Virginia where I?ve hunted all my life and I?m trying to grasp on how and where I should hunt near Fort Collins. I have no preference points and absolutely no knowledge on where to go. All I really want to do is just shoot a cow don?t really care about a trophy bull but it would be nice. Thank for your help!

I sent you a Private Message, also go online to the Colorado Dow website and start researching the areas around Fort Collins and get an idea of a area you want and research more in detail and call DOW and get as much information as possible.

Start to spend time on google maps and learn the roads out of fort collins, living up there you probably dont want to drive south on the front range to fight in the traffic with all the denver folks.

Once you start to understand the area and public lands you can access(colorado parks and wildlife have a great hunting atlas that shows public lands and so much more) go explore!

Once exploring you can start to narrow down areas you think might hold elk or deer and continue to learn these areas.

All the while learn the application process, GMU's and if the area you are exploring is even feasible to hunt without points.

I moved from the east coast out here 7 years ago, and i had to learn everything from scratch, i havent gotten anything yet, but been close a bunch of times. Just need some hard work and time
