Pinewood Derby Time!

Here in the depths of winter, in the upper Midwest, its Derby time![emoji6]

This is son #4's car that we just finished-with 7 kids, 5 boys, this is probably my 14th consecutive year in this endeavor-race time for Pack 100 is 9am sharp tomorrow-good luck to all-and good luck to all the sons, dads, moms, grand dads, grandmas, aunts & uncles helping get that last bit of weight on their cars all across the USA!

My kids have done that a few times. I have girls, so the focus was more on getting the car painted and glittered than performance.

Its run the full spectrum; some years more of the speed, others more "show than go". lol

I do have 2 daughters as well, the oldest is 7 and youngest 19 mos, so will get those data points before long.

I think the craziest yr was when I was the cubmaster for the pack-so had lots of responsibilities organizing and setting up the race, while supervising 2 of my boys in their car building; even with all that drama, we managed to have a good time.

Cam's car is a basic performance minded design: he decided to spend more time playing with cousins in PA last week than working on the car-only so much he could do in 3 days of prep this week-but these are good life lessons.

He raided my muzzy box and is using a Maxiball and Great Plains bullet for weight! lol

I purposely only had 2 kids. That kept me busy enough. Lol
Daughter is 29 and son is 26.
I have a 9 year old grandson now with another grandson coming in 4 months from my son.

I don't know how he did it, but Cam took 1st place this year in a field of 30+ other boys! With a very simple car design that he only spent 3 nites working on. [emoji44]

ya know, I don't recall ever doing the pinewood derby as a kid. but then I had to leave the scouts early on account of an insatiable appetite for brownies. so that could be why I missed out.
