Pinedale area elk

Was wondering if anybody has been seeing any elk around the Pinedale Wyoming area? I have a pretty reliable source that says he isn't seeing anything in 96. (local that gets out 2 times a week scouting) Seems everybody I talk to with tags in 95,96 and some of the other areas up there is complaining about the lack of elk. I was in the Cora/Kendall area of 96 for 5 days and didn't see anything. Put a lot of boot leather on the ground and saw some good mule deer and some moose but all elk sign was old. A lot of these guys are packing back in on horses are saying the same thing so it's not just us 2 leg drive guys that are coming up short. I know it takes some snow up high to move them down and we don't have any right now but I saw elk up there in my hunt area in late July. I know pressure will push them back but it's pretty bleak right now. Any info would be appreciated. PM me if you don't want to share on here.

My Pinedale locals blame the wolves, lol. With the good forage growth this year I think they can stay high and feed even with some snow, but I don't know. Sorry you haven't been seeing any. Some people are saying the same things for the Big Horns from what I have heard, but archery season seemed to have some good success. Hopefully they are just way high or something. It seems like they just magically appear on the feedgrounds down there after nothing all year sometimes. Well, keep me posted, lol. Sometimes I like to try for a late season cow down there.

My tag turns into a cow tag in November but I don't think they will be down even by then. Thanks for the input. I'll let you know if I hear or see anything in the next couple weeks.
