I am going to purchase a pair of pack boots and am trying to decide between a 10" and 13" height. Would the 13" be too high and rub on my calf or would the 10" be too low for walking in snow.

Boy, do I have some major conundrums in my life:) But seriously, I do want to purchase the correct boot and would like to hear from my friends on EHJ.

Thanks and happy trails,
Gman

I got the full length kenetrek pac boots, I like mine tall, helps with not needing gaiters, and since I do outfit they come almost to my chinks. And they are nice when walking in deep snow. I prefer tall boots anytime Im hunting whether I'm riding or guiding I like mine tall. Plus the taller ones seem to help with ankle issues since there is more boot to leg contact

Go taller...If its a late season boot it is nice to have the height. I usually still wear knee high gaiters to keep pants and boots less wet for having to dry out at the end of long days. But I definitely would not want a lower pac boot. . . I wear the Kenetrek Cowboys and they are 13"

Yes mine are the 13", I could have prolly went with schnees 16" and they would fit my long legs a little closer to the knee, I'd say the 10" would be to short for my line of work 13" gets me by but if I ever wear out these 13" I'm getting the 16" schnees. Not all my guiding is on horses though so I need my boots to be walkable in plus rideable and kenetrek had that for me. Plus a buddy had a pair he let me borrow for a week to test.

I'd go with the taller boot also! I have the 13" Schnees Hunter II which is an awesome boot. The extra height helps give your ankle and calf area more support and helps keep snow and other things out.

I'm the opposite of you guys. I prefer shorter boots paired with gaiters.
