Over the counter Elk tags in New Mexico?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and new to New Mexico. I was wondering if you can buy any tags over the counter when the season starts? I missed the draw just moving here and couldn't find anything about over the counter tags online. I would really like to put something in the freezer this year. I mostly bow hunt. Thanks in advance!

If you want a tag in nm you will have to get a landowner tag at this point. No general public otc tags in nm

I actually thought they sold OTC tags for some units(34,36) maybe a few more units as well to residents and if some are left NR could get them as well. This hunt is in December though. I'm not sure on all the details and if what I said is exactly right but I thought I've seen this in the past that NM offers this.
