Pretty cool Joe. Before home videos and YouTube it was virtually impossible to see film on blackmail anywhere other than California or southern Oregon.

Blacktails are as tough to hunt as anything I have ever hunted. Bucks are mostly nocturnal until the last 4 or 5 days of the season. If you can hunt those days you should be able to get it done on public accessible land. If you are short for time or limited on when you can hunt a private land guided hunt might not be a bad idea.
Down in Southern Oregon blacktails get lot bigger than the ones here on the North Coast. Not that we don't have a few B&C bucks around but they are hard to come by. I've killed a buck almost every year here for the last 38 years and the only B&C buck I've killed came from down south.

There are a lot of OTC late bow season opportunities in Oregon for blacktail. Send me a pm I can give you some ideas.Thanks for the reply Joe ! Any suggestions for areas to look into ? I'm prolly going to bowhunt and would prefer a DIY

I would focus on the southern units during the late archery hunt in that case! They start the earliest and coincide perfectly with the rut. I'd just look on google earth for an area with some older clearcuts mixed with newer ones and some mature timber. I don't ever hunt down there so I don't have any more specific advice. Unfortunately the unit i live in does not have a late archery season so I normally end up hunting rifle season.Thanks for the reply Joe ! Any suggestions for areas to look into ?
