Went hunting Ontario again this season. Called in this 44"er for my friend.

Just a little more about this trip. This was a drop camp (Float plane ride hence me with the mic acting very serious as usual!! hahaha) DIY hunt. It is my 5th time going there to hunt.

This whole hunt: gas, cabin, license, everything cost us less than 3K each and is only 12 hours from my house in Northwestern Pennsylvania.

It is a very rewarding way to hunt.

I have attached a picture of my bull from 2010.

We should have killed 3 bulls in 5 years. the last three times up have been very tough due to warm weather but this year we nailed it.

It truly was a fantastic memorable hunt.

Awesome, looks like a fun hunt. I need to get North of the border eventually.

I bet it was a real joy getting him out of the water, to quarter.

That looks like an awesome hunt. Nothing beats a successful DIY hunt of any kind, but moose would be one of the best. Well, until time to get it out!
Congratulations

I couldn't figure out how to get the the tenderloins gutlessly and it was already propped up so I just dumped the guts and reached in and got the tenderloins out. Plus I wanted to see what it had been eating and I wanted to get the heart out and look at what the broadhead did to the lungs.

The heart was delicious so were the loins!

So, gutless removing the tenderloins, after removing the front and rear quarters remove the back straps. You'll notice towards the hind quarter the ribs stop, the tenderloins start right there where the ribs end. You'll be able to feel them as you make your cut. On my hunt to BC, they never gut or remove the neck meat. Once you feel it you'll know what to do.

You can't eat the heart if you don't gut them, can you? One advantage to gutting a moose is instant cooling you get as soon as the guts slide out. When it takes several hours to break down an animal, what's 5 minutes. Mallardsx2, I would suggest bringing a small come along and just drag the beast ashore for processing. Congrats on a great hunt.
