I'm in the process of narrowing down the units I'll be putting in for this year in NM. Right now I have one more choice to make but I'm undecided between unit 16c rifle or 23 rifle.
Don't know much about 16C as I've never hunted it. A friend calls unit 23 the "kick me in the balls unit". He told me to kick him the balls if he ever had thoughts of putting in for that unit again. I guess it's pretty rugged. I kind of like that type of country personally. Less roads the better i think. I'll ask him for details.

Any other "kick me in the balls unit" you care to share publicly?? I will be applying this year again and it would be nice to know whether or not my chosen unit(s) are a waste of time.
I used to live in NM at first Albuquerque later on in Silver City right next to 23 , I know there elk in 23 especially in the north part but If it were me I would prefer to hunt 16c of the 2 options , Most of the guys I worked with usually hunted 16e fairly close to the edge of 16c , In my experience you will see more elk in 16c , if you are looking for mule deer it is a toss up .
